So how many times have you baked a cake and a week later thrown a big chunk of it away? It happens to me all the time. My guys love a fresh baked cake but once their sweet tooth has been satisfied, they may not want it again the next day or even the next. A cake is just not as appealing once it’s been sitting out for a couple of days. So, it never fails that I end up tossing out cake that no one wants days after it’s baked.
Finally we have an option that is perfect for any occasion…the new Duncan Hines Perfect Size Cakes!
The cake really is the perfect size for my family. Each cake serves 2 -4 people. I made the golden fudge cake for dessert the other night and my guys were so excited. It was super simple to make and I loved that I didn’t have to mess up any of my pans.
Inside the box you’ll find the cake mix, a 6 inch pan, and frosting. All you have to supply is one egg, a little water and some butter. You get an easy to make cake that’s moist plus a rich, creamy frosting. I am trying to stick to my diet but I’ll admit…I did take one bite and the cake was FANTASTIC!
What’s great is that you can look for these new cakes on a special display at Publix. Look for special shippers near the baking aisle NOT on the shelf. That’s right, these products are so new that they are not even on the shelf yet! You should also find a $1 coupon on the shipper, so you can save a buck when you try the new Perfect Size Cakes.
Grab a couple then you can whip up a tasty desert any time you want one. You’ll have a delicious cake whether you want to celebrate a special occasion or just a want a sweet treat on a Monday night after dinner. These cakes offer you the convenience and the “Perfect Size” every time!

This post is brought to you buy Duncan Hines. All comments and opinions are my own.
We just make cupcakes and freeze them. They taste just like fresh up after thawing for at least 6 weeks.
I just make up half a cake mix at a time.
I saw these in my store and thought it was a great idea! While the suggestions above are great, if i want to get something my kids or husband will make, this is the product. They can’t be bothered with freezing and defrosting stuff, or halving a cake mix…that would be too difficult:) AND, it requires no pan cleanup afterwards!
I wish we could buy it without the pan. Who wants a bunch of these pans sitting around? And if they are disposable, then that’s just wasteful.
I used to love the snakin cake mixes back in the 80s so when I saw this I thought it would be the same. I was wrong. You have to add butter and egg and use a beater which is too much work for such a small cake. Then more butter and a beater for the frosting. Why not just include a packet of ready made frosting? This didn’t even taste that good so I won’t be buying it again. I don’t think it will be on the shelves very long before they discontinue it.
Totally agree Mary. I saw these at Walmart yesterday and bought three to try. I live alone and a whole cake is too much. I used to love those Snacking cakes too and thought these would be like that. If I had read the directions first I would have never purchased. It was as much trouble as making a big cake having to use a mixer for both the cake and the frosting. I made the red velvet and it tastes okay. Nothing special. I will be returning the other two.
I agree!
These are awesome!!!!!!! The best frosting ever. Just the right size for a couple of people. I hope they keep making them I have only found them in Meijer where I live. I think Duncan Hines should look into packaging the frosting alone also, much better than the can. I hope we can see them on the shelf everywhere love it,but I am a big Duncan Hines !!!!!!
I saw these at my local Publix and bought 2–a yellow and a chocolate. What a great product! I am so disappointed that I have not been able to find them since. I’m actually considering looking on Amazon to continue my purchasing options.
I bought one of these cakes when it was on a special display. When I shopped at my Publix at Citrus Tower this week there were none on the shelves. I hope it’s not been discontinued. Also, as some other people have commented, I wouldn’t mind a small container of ready made frosting.
These are great. We bought the Strawberry, Lemon, Red Velvet and the yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Yes, you have to mix the ingredients (not at all like the snackers that you could microwave), but it was worth it. Took a lot less time and effort making a whole cake and freezing half. I’m going back for a few more since they were BOGO. Going to get some for my parents too. Just enough for a treat for 2 people.
I tried to bake the chocolate cake last summer and it was a complete disaster, twice! The packets were not labeled and with both being chocolate, they were mystery packets with bad results.
So this time I tried the Golden Fudge and the packages were finally labeled. It was so easy to make and a delicious dessert to enjoy! What a great experience and a package will come with us on vacation! Contrary to the comments, the frosting is ample and easy to spread. I add a few drops of vanilla extract and butter extract to the cake and frosting and the entire cake was a hit!
I’m a fan, but of course it’s the best; it’s Duncan Hines!
