I love to use them in pies, dump cakes and cobblers AND the recipe you see above … Apple Pie Bombs! My guys absolutely LOVE them. They are almost like a donut without all the effort! You just grab some bread dough, a can of fruit filling and some pantry staples for a fabulous treat that’s ready in a flash.
- 2 cans Italian bread dough
- 1 can Comstock® Simply Apple Filling & Topping 21oz
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 tablespoons cinnamon
- Preheat the oven to 375ºF.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon.
- Brush 24 muffin tins with melted butter and sprinkle each muffin tin with about a half teaspoon of the cinnamon/sugar mix and swirl to coat.
- Open the cans of bread dough and unroll each loaf onto a sheet of wax paper.
- Cut each sheet of dough into 12 equal size squares.
- Place about a tablespoon of Comstock® Simply Apple Filling onto the dough square and gather the ends around the filling pinching to seal like a pouch.
- Flip the pouch over and place into the prepared muffin pan.
- Brush the pouch with butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
- Repeat to fill all 24 muffin cavities.
- Bake for 12 – 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve topped with caramel and ice cream if desired.
