Here’s the first recipe for the Publix menu plan for the new ad that starts 3/6 (3/7 for some) – Hawaiian Sweet & Sour Smoked Sausage.
I found this recipe over on the Hillshire Farm Sausage So Simple site and knew immediately that I wanted to give it a try. It has a whopping 5 ingredients and takes 15 minutes to prepare. Yep, that’s my kind of meal. I did make a little modification and chose to serve the dish over couscous instead of rice.
This one was a hit at my house. Of course my boys picked out the bell peppers – but, the plates were clean otherwise. With the upcoming sale at Publix you can put this one together without breaking your budget.
- 1 pkg. Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage, cut into ½-inch slices
- 1 bell pepper, seeded, chopped
- 1/4 cup sweet chili garlic sauce
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into ½- inch pieces
- 3 cups cooked couscous (cooked according to package directions)
- Cook and stir sausage and bell peppers over medium-high heat for 5 minutes or until sausage is lightly browned and peppers are tender.
- Add chili garlic sauce and pineapple; cook and stir for 5 minutes.
- Serve over cooked couscous.
- (2) Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage or Polska Kielbasa, 2/$6 ($1/2 Publix Digital Coupon) = $5
- (1) Near East Couscous, BOGO $2.19 = $1.10
- (1) Maggi Sweet Chili Sauce, $2.69
- (1) Bell Pepper, $1
- (1) Del Monte Gold Ripe Pineapple, $3.99
TOTAL = $13.78
Plus, you have the following leftover (some to be used later in the week)
- 1 package of smoked sausage (*to be used later in the week)
- Sweet Chili Sauce
- Extra pineapple
