Have you guys picked up a carton of 100% Florida Orange Juice this week? Last week I shared my favorite smoothie recipe and Charlotte emailed with some more suggestions for us. She wanted to remind us of one of the best treats that kids love on a hot day – popsicles.
We are soon to be hit with some super high temperatures and most of us will be looking for ways to cool off. Popsicles are fantastic on a hot day in the south. I love that Charlotte reminds us that popsicles don’t have to be complicated.
I just pour OJ into small disposable cups – you know the ones you keep in the bathroom for mouthwash. Cover the cup with tin foil and add in a popsicle stick down the middle then toss them in the freezer. By the next day you have a great treat. Just peel off the paper cup and send the kids outside to enjoy. The kids get a great treat with lots of nutritional value and you skip all the artificial junk.
Charlotte also sent me her recipe for Homemade Orange Creamsicles. I think I am going to whip these up over the weekend and I will post it over on I Heart Kitchen. There are very few ingredients needed and I know these will be a huge hit with my boys.
Remember, orange juice isn’t just for breakfast! As Charlotte reminds us…OJ is packed with the good stuff. One 8-ounce serving of orange juice is fat-free and, at 110 calories per 8-ounce glass, has fewer calories than some other commonly consumed 100% fruit juices.
Whether you opt to include orange juice as your morning refreshment, in a popsicle or any other delicious recipe, you’ll get great nutrition!
- One glass of 100% Florida Orange Juice is a nutrient-rich beverage that is a delicious way to complement whole fruit intake to help reach daily fruit intake recommendations, with every 8 ounce glass counting as 1 cup of fruit.
- An 8-ounce glass of 100% orange juice is an excellent source of vitamin C, providing more than 100% of the Daily Value.
- An 8-ounce glass of 100% orange juice provides a good source of potassium (473 mg or 14 percent of the Daily Value).
Orange juice is always a great value. Grab a carton/jug and stay tuned for that Orange Creamsicle recipe.
