We wait all year to pull out our wedding china, Grandma’s silverware and holiday linens to set the perfect Thanksgiving table. In my mind’s eye I see those beautiful magazine spreads, but no matter how hard I try to re-create them, it just never happens. You see I live in the real world. A world where the spoon falls out of the potatoes when they are passed and the gravy boat is always being tipped. Rolls always seem to fall out of the basket and so much food ends up on the floor, the dogs often feast more than the people!
It’s ok because real life is really messy and really fun! A little bit of Shout® will make sure that I can re-use those holiday linens year after year. So no matter how many drips, drops and plops end up on my tablecloth, napkins and even my clothes, I can enjoy the day and deal without worrying about stains.

Clean house and take stock of what I’ll need for dinner,.
I make sure that the house if clean from top to bottom, well at least, I try. And make sure that is all smell fresh and welcoming,
I start my holiday baking early and utilize my chest freezer. Cookies, breads, dough – they all hold up great when frozen and save me a ton of time later on in December when life gets crazy. I also try and get all my holiday shopping done by Dec 1 so that I can just enjoy the holiday month.
Clean my house, make a list of everything I will need! Check Iheartpublix for all the deals, gather my coupons and go to Publix’s and save, save, save!
Make a list first. Clean, decorate, grocery shop, cook and EAT!!!!!!
I start to deep clean about now. Then just the weekly cleaning after that is always enough.
Stock the fridge!
I like to purge and clean out closets and cabinets in the Fall leading up to the holidays. It’s hard to decorate with clutter! Also it’s a great time to organize baking supplies and refresh spices and holiday cooking staples that I don’t use too often. Nobody wants a pie baked with stale or old ingredients!
I clean from top to bottom and then decorate with all the favorite holiday decor!
First deep clean and then start stocking the bar for guests.
Clean, inventory , shop and get to the cooking! Then clean again!! Go to grandma’s.
I start cleaning and check what I need for my guests, bake and freeze dishes so I can have fun, too!
Make a list of what I’m going to cook, make a budget for gift shopping and clean well before I start decorating.
We’ll be 9 for Thanksgiving, including my hubby’s sister & her family who come for the week & stay with us! So I make sure to get all grocery shopping done before they come. And gather all roasting pans & serving dishes from the basement closet & wash them. And make sure the guest room is fresh & clean!
I decorate my dining table in fall like colors, & use scents around the house to add to the mood.
I clean and make a checklist so I don’t forget anything.
I start planning my table place settings by thinking of everyone coming and where they will sit. They my children and I make personalized place mats for each person.
I cook and freeze any food that works. Sweet potato casserole is always in my freezer weeks in advance.
I plan my menu early. Then I start stocking up a little bit at a time so that I can get the best deals.
I start baking and deep cleaning the house
A list for my list for my list… 🙂
And Pledge everything (love that fresh smell)
clean the house
Clean as best you can with little ones undoing as fast as you clean.
Clean! And I recently bought new towels and washcloths.
Get my holiday meal list out 🙂
Dust, mop and take out my favorite table cloth for our dinner table.
Cleaning, cleaning and then more cleaning! Stocking the fridge with booze, food and burning a pumpkin candle, That how I prepare for guests 🙂
Some things that I do to start to do to prepare for the holiday or for holiday guests is I deep clean my home and stock up on necessities.
I make a list and go grocery shopping. I also clean the house!

Deep clean, especially floors & bathrooms, and stock the fridge with lots of nibbly things. De-clutter! Bake my famous lacy oatmeal cookies. Bathe the cats if I have enough time & motivation 😉

I will catch up on all laundry and straighten kitchen out with a good cleaning.
I will get all my holiday clothes ready and tidy up bathroom plus the guest rooms.
Lots of cleaning and I love to cook and bake, so lots of shopping for special dishes and deserts!
I try to prep and freeze anything I can in advance.
I clean and start to go through old clothes and old toys to give those away to charity before the holidays. That frees up more room in my house. I also try to watch for sales and stock up and buy any gifts that I can early on.
Beginning of November I start purging the fridges & freezers to make room for all the holiday foods. Take stock of pantry supplies, make my lists, grab my coupons & start shopping!
I tried to get some cleaning done. It’s somehow never done, though.
Start cleaning and cooking!!!
I clean the house and get as much food preparation done as possible.
We actually just had our house painted which forced us to do some deep cleaning up afterwards. Now all we need to do is the weekly cleaning! Otherwise a list helps organize things for the holidays and in the kitchen giving everyone his own job makes things far easier!
I clean the every dreaded kids bathroom. No idea why the bathtub gets that ring or why the toilet paper rolls are on the floor next to the trash can. This will be a full day cleaning project. 🙂
Wash and dry all the guests sheets, comforters and towels. I purchase glad candles or glade spray in the holiday scent to give the house the holiday feel. Decorate the house, start cooking and baking and play some holiday music to get into the spirit of the holiday season.
I start cleaning and cooking as much in advance as possible!
I start looking for deals on all the items needed for Thanksgiving dinner.
Clean and decorate
I make sure the powder bath and guest bath are cleaned up and ready to go! Wreath goes up too. Thanks!
I start stocking up the essentials for cooking and looking for all my decorations as my husband tends to lose stuff every year!!
I clean my home then decorate for the holidays.
Shopping and cooking/baking. Things like cookies freeze well so baking doesn’t have to be done at the last minute.
I start off by cleaning the house. Then I like to get all our shopping done early as stores sometimes run out of things.
Declutter
I clean out and freshen up the guest bedroom, the kitchen and the entire house.

I deep clean the house and then decorate and light a candle before the guests arrive so the house smells warm and welcoming.
I pull out all the linens I will be using and make sure they are clean with no spots. Table cloths and napkins might need a good washing to get out those stains.
I make sure I’m all stocked up with extra cleaning supplies and toilet/paper towels!!
i clean the house little by little and keep wipes in each bathroom for a quick clean up. I also try to cook ahead an freeze
