We have about a month until the official first day of fall. While it may not feel like fall yet, now is a great time to start preparing for the new season.
It takes me a couple of weeks to fully transform my home for the season. I am a busy gal so I choose to do a little bit at a time. The change is gradual…but will be dramatic by the time I am done!
One of my favorite ways to bring a feeling of autumn into my home is by changing or adding a fall themed centerpiece to my table. Now you know I am a thrifty gal so I opt to go with things that I can get free or cheap. One of my favorite places to find fall items is my backyard. Pinecones, leaves, plants and other found items can easily make and impressive centerpiece. A big bowl of pinecones with some sticks and leaves can yield amazing decor without costing you a dime!
If you aren’t crafty, the internet can be your best friend. A quick search will offer tons of ideas that you can simply recreate.
Once you have your new centerpiece done, a little fall fragrance will help set the mood. Be sure to look for the NEW Glade® Limited Edition Autumn Collection at your local Publix. You’ll find the three unique fragrances that you can use to help evoke the feeling of the season.
- Cozy Autumn Cuddle – Tranquil. Joy. Oranges, Ginger, White Pumpkin sprinkled in cinnamon sugar, all wrapped with melted caramel and topped with a dollop of vanilla buttercream. Warm snuggles under the blankets while leaves fall outside. Feels like the heart is full.
- Flirty Orchard Kiss™ – Sunshine. Flirtation. Golden rays of light on a perfectly crisp apple, surrounded by dahlia blossoms and green meadow grass layered on soft cashmere musk and woods. A sparkling walk outside filled with laughter. Feels like young love.
- Warm Flannel Embrace – Enveloping. Romance. Fresh citrus, cool aromatics, dewy ferns and oakmoss are balanced by cedar, powdery sandalwood, and smoky leather. Wrapped around the shoulders; utter happiness. Feels like bliss.

I also pull things from my yard and from nature. We have fabulous wildflowers and flowering trees here in the fall. I often make a centerpiece from things like that. Cheap and easy!

I welcome autumn with a fall wreath on the door and decorate my home with orange, beige and yellow decor. I showcase a centerpiece of orange and yellow flowers on my coffee table.
I like to gradually switch seasons too! I typically start by pulling all of the “Fall Accessory” boxes down so that they are in easy reach. I always put out our Fall themed throw pillows and blankets first. Then a week or two later, change out my tablecloth and add a wreath and door mat at the front door. I then start to compile my shopping list – for S’mores ingredients, Hot Chocolate, Apple Pie, Pumpkin pie, Glade Candles and Plugins Scented Oil. Apple Cinnamon is my favorite scent. Once the temperature starts to drop below 60 degrees at night, I will put out my centerpieces with the Glade Candles and turn on my Glade Plugins. I am excited to try the new Glade Scent Cozy Autumn Cuddle – it sounds so inviting!

I did something like this in 2015 when we moved in our new apartment and I get compliments all the time:
1. Add Splashes of Bright Colors!
Make a neutral room visually interesting by adding small, colorful details.
Try placing a bright flower arrangement on the coffee table, putting eye-catching throw pillows on the couch, or setting a bowl of oranges and bananas on the kitchen counter.
2. Swap Out Dark Furniture for White!
Brown or black couches, tables, and other furnishings can make a room seem darker — and smaller. Open up your living spaces by adding white furniture. If you have curtains on your windows, consider replacing them with lighter sheer coverings to let in more natural light.
3. Create a Stunning Table Settings
If you’re hosting a get-together at your home this summer, impress your guests with bright, summery place settings.
Consider placing brightly colored plates or napkins on the table, then adding a matching vase filled with fresh flowers or votives filled with unscented candles.
4. Bring Summer Blossoms Indoors using Glade products
There’s no better way to welcome summer into your home than by bringing in freshly picked flowers every week and change your Glade scent every season. Place vibrant bouquets throughout your home, including end tables in the bedrooms or in the middle of a shelf, for a fresh look and pleasant smell.
5. Set Out a New Welcome Mat
Setting a new doormat, or one that has a bright, summery theme, outside your front door is the perfect way to welcome guests into your home.
Change the color of our table clothes and also change decorations and candles. The glade scents change.
