If you are like me you are probably doing a lot of entertaining this time of year! It’s football season and we have folks over quite often to watch the games. My friends and I typically rotate houses so that we all take turns hosting.
Entertaining takes effort so we like to spread out the responsibility a bit. Everyone knows that there is a difference in what a house looks like on an average day and on a day when you are entertaining!
I consider myself pretty tidy but I still have to work on my house a little more when I know folks are coming over. I have gotten pretty good at quick clean ups over the years. I start by taking care of the piles of “stuff” that tend to accumulate and then do a quick clean up of the living room, kitchen and powder room. Yes, I only focus on the areas that my guest will use. I figure that I can always deal with the other rooms at another time.
With a bottle of Windex® Multi-Surface, a can of Scrubbing Bubbles® Disinfectant Bathroom Cleaner, some paper towels, a cloth and my electric sweeper, I can get all the rooms knocked out in about 30 minutes!
I tote everything in a little caddy and move from room to room quickly. Some paper towels and Windex® Multi-Surface will have the kitchen countertops, my stainless appliances, the mirrors and my glass doors clean in a flash. Then a quick spray of Scrubbing Bubbles® Disinfectant Bathroom Cleaner on the toilet and sink is all that’s needed to have the bathroom looking good. I restock the toilet paper and take out any trash and my powder room is ready for guests.
A quick zip of my electric sweeper over all the floors will help to pick up any messes. The finishing touch is making sure my home fragrance products are good to go. Then it’s just a matter of setting up the food and waiting for everyone to arrive!

I mainly focus on the bathrooms and kitchen when cleaning for guests. I also check our full glass storm doors for grime since we come and go there all day long.

We don’t do anything special. If the house is kept clean on a day to day basis, no need to do anything. All we do when company comes over is make some coffee.
It depends on who the guests are…..If it’s my daughter with grandkids and dogs…I do nothing as the big job will be done when they leave…
I clean the house then decorate the house. I also lay out a nice party spread.
For most guests I’ll do a quick dusting in the spare bedroom as I usually clean it after some one leaves and of course bathrooms always need to be cleaned.

I go nuts and scrub every nook and cranny. I get a burst of energy, sorta like the nesting burst you get before having a baby. I’m usually exhausted by the time the company arrives. I also prepare dishes in advance and freeze them and we keep lots of paper products & plastic utensils on hand to cut down on cleaning, depending on the occassion of course.
