Grab a package of meatballs and a few additional ingredients and you can make a batch of Meatball Lasagna Roll Ups tonight!
My guys love these and they are really easy to prepare. I’ll often prep them in the morning so that I can just toss them in the oven around dinnertime. Pair with a salad for a tasty meal that is packed with big flavor.
I typically use the Italian Style Abruzzese Meatballs for this recipe as there are 12 in each package. That’s enough to feed all of us…PLUS allows for some leftovers. You can definitely use the Mozzarella Rustica if you prefer, you might just want to cut those big boys in half.
Feel free to adjust the recipe however you like. You can leave out the spinach and add zucchini or kill the veggies entirely. Drench them in sauce or keep in light and add sauce when you serve. Honestly, this recipe is foolproof…so why not add it your menu?!
- 1 package Carando Italian Style Abruzzese Meatballs, cooked according to package instructions
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
- 16 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- salt & pepper to taste
- 10 oz frozen spinach, defrosted and drained well
- 4 cups pasta sauce
- fresh basil for garnish, if desired
- Bake the meatballs according to package instructions.
- While the meatballs bake, cook the noodles.
- Once done, drain and lay each out out flat on parchment or foil.
- In a large bowl, mix the ricotta, 1 cup of mozzarella, parmesan, and spinach (make sure you have squeezed as much water as possible from the spinach).
- Mix together and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread the mixture evenly over each cooked noodle.
- Add a cooked meatball at one end of each noodle and roll tightly.
- Spread 1 1/2 cups sauce over the bottom of a 13×9 baking dish.
- Arrange the roll ups in the pan over the sauce and spoon the remaining sauce over top of the roll ups.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350º for 45 minutes, until cheese is bubbly. (Tip–spray foil with cooking spray so the cheese doesn’t stick when removed).
- Top with fresh basil and serve.
You can’t go wrong no matter which variety you choose! Carando Italian Style Meatballs let you prepare meatballs that taste like they’re made from scratch with minimal effort. I looked for these in store today and didn’t see them. Are they in the meat section or frozen?
Frozen section 🙂
Got my freebie earlier today.
Question?
Under wich Zipcode did u find the coupon?
I don’t have the coupon, i think it’s regional.
I didn’t get the Free offer but got a $1.00/1 coupon – it was under the Meat category rather than the Frozen category.
No freebie coupon for me-northwest florida.
I got a free coupon and a $1.00 off one. I bought the Italian ones. They were in the frezer section on a bottom shelf. I had to call the 800 # on the package as I didn’t know if they were precooked or not. They are not they said so I put them in a covered fry pan and browned them. Then I made a little bit of sauce and then when they were all cooked and browned and threw them in the sauce. I boiled bow tie pasta and mixed the pasta in the sauce with meatballs and sprinkled mozerella cheese on them. I topped it off with Oregano and Spice Islands Italian Seasoning. I will admit it was and easy and fast meal and it was delicous. I never buy boxed hamburgers I like to make it myself, but I will say the meatballs were really good. Thank you Michelle for informing us of these specials.
What temperature do you bake these? I am going to try them.
Sorry about that 350 will work great—I edited the recipe.
