The other day I told you guys about the Dove Self-Esteem Project.
The folks at Dove believe no young person should be held back from reaching their full potential. However, low body confidence and anxieties over appearance keep young people from being their best selves, affecting their health, friendships, and even performance at school.
They are on a mission to help young people overcome body image issues and fulfill their potential by building positive body confidence and self-esteem.
So many of us struggle with confidence and self-esteem. I can remember being so insecure as a young girl. Honestly, I still have times when I struggle…especially with negative body image. But those feeling are usually fleeting. I have a very supportive family and have learned ways to change those negative thoughts into positive ones.
For the longest time, I never put pictures of myself here on the site. I guess I was afraid of what you guys would think and was nervous that I’d get a bunch of negative emails and comments. After all, people can be very cruel and will often say things online that they’d never say in person.
Then one day, I just didn’t care. I think part of it is my age. I am knocking on the big 5-0…so at this point in my life, I just don’t have time to care about the petty stuff. While I consider myself a work in progress, I realized that I like myself. I have so much support and love in my life, there is just no room for all that negativity!
So, the Dove Self-Esteem Project holds a special place in my heart.
