Snacking has really changed over the years!
These days we have a nice selection of healthy snack options that are quick, easy and big on taste. Some of my favorites are those from the folks at Roots. I’ve been a fan of their various hummus flavors for a while, but now there are three fantastic NEW offerings available in the deli at your local Publix: Roots Vidalia Onion Dip & Spread, Roots Pineapple Habanero Dip & Spread, and Roots Bruschetta.
Perfect for all your snacking and recipe needs, each dip is packed with such amazing flavor… the hard part will be deciding which to enjoy first!
The Vidalia Onion Dip & Spread is a loving nod to Roots’ Southern heritage. Featuring real vidalia onions caramelized to perfection, this rich, savory sweet blend is as distinct as the recipe used to make it.
If you’re craving something more exotic with a little touch of heat, be sure to give their Pineapple Habanero Dip & Spread a try. It’s the perfect blend of sweet heat and is sure to be a real crowd-pleaser.
Love bruschetta but not how long it takes to make? Roots Bruschetta is made with fresh basil, garlic, and parmesan, just like the Italian classic. All you need is your favorite crostini for a fast, satisfying snack.
These Roots Dips & Spreads have become a snacking standard around my house, especially on game days. Not only are they perfect for dipping your favorite crackers, pretzels, and veggies, Roots Dips & Spreads can be used to make a number of tasty recipes like my Cheesy Chicken & Spinach Vidalia Onion Braid.
The recipe is incredibly easy to make and is so good, it’s almost addictive! All you need is a little rotisserie chicken, some spinach, cheese, a refrigerated pizza dough, and a container of Roots Vidalia Onion Dip & Spread. Then with about 5 minutes of prep and 20 minutes in the oven and you end up with a family-friendly meal that will please even your pickiest eater!
- 1 8 oz container Roots Vidalia & Onion Dip & Spread
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 8 oz pkg frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained well
- 2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- Preheat oven to 400º F.
- Place the first four ingredients in a large bowl and mix to combine.
- Roll out the dough onto parchment paper (or Silpat).
- Imagine the dough as three equal parts. Spread the chicken mixture down the middle section and cut the sides of the dough into strips, leaving the middle intact.
- Crisscross the dough strips over the filling and tuck the ends.
- Move the braid to a baking sheet and bake in a 400º F oven for 20 – 25 minutes or until golden brown.
This is such a fantastic option for a busy weeknight as you get amazing flavor with very little effort. That one container of their Vidalia Onion Dip adds so much amazing flavor with no cutting, chopping or the need to raid your spice cabinet. With just five ingredients you have a tasty meal that’s on the table in under 30 minutes. In my world, that’s a winning combination!
