Welcome to this week’s Publix Super Meals. Each week I am going to share a recipe to help you take the Publix Super Deals and turn them into Publix Super Meals!
Who doesn’t like a good burger? How about a burger stuffed with ham and ooey gooey cheese? The folks at Good Cook sent me over a package of goodies last week and with the nice price on ground chuck at Publix, I thought I would put it to use for the Super Meals this week. Here is what I got to put together my Moo Cordon Bleu Stuffed Burgers.
I am a huge fan of cast iron. My favorite pan that I use all the time is actually older than me. You gotta love pans that can last that long. I was very excited to get a cast iron grill. I had never actually used one before and let me tell you guys…I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, I love my outdoor grill but sometimes it’s not an option. The Cast Iron Grill cooked up burgers perfectly – great grill marks and very even cooking.
I mentioned earlier that I didn’t make any ordinary burger. I used the Good Cook Burger Stuffer to fill the beef with ham, swiss and fontina. I topped it with an incredible honey mustard sauce and then a slice of lettuce and tomato. It really was burger heaven. The burger stuffer made it so easy. It allows you to make a pocket to stuff and then presses the meat together so all the yummy goodness stays tucked inside the burger. I have tried to hand stuff burgers before but the cheese usually drips out the sides. The Burger Stuffer kept everything tucked in so that when you bite into the burger you taste the delicious filling.
This is a super simple recipe that you guys can whip up any night of the week.
- 1/3 cup honey
- 5 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound lean beef
- 4 oz Swiss cheese, chopped
- 4 oz fontina cheese, chopped
- 4 oz ham, chopped
- salt & pepper to taste
- Mix up your dressing by whisking the mustard, vinegar, honey and olive oil in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to serve (can be made ahead of time).
- Divide the meat into 8 1/8 pound servings.
- Place 1/4 pound of meat into the Good Cook Burger Press.
- Create the pocket and fill with 1 oz of swiss, 1 oz of fontina and 1 oz of ham.
- Top with another serving of meat and press.
- Continue until all 4 burgers are complete.
- Cook the burgers on the cast iron grill at medium low until done (about 4 minutes per side).
- Serve the burgers topped with the honey mustard dressing.
