Well, the big game is this weekend and whether you are planning to host a large crowd or just a few friends…you are going to need some great game day snacks!  The folks at Frito-Lay challenged me to come up with some healthier dip recipes to use with Lay’s Potato Chips, Fritos Scoops & Tostitos Scoops!

I think you guys are going to love what I came up with!!  I had a few guinea pigs including my husband who got the chance to taste and critique all of my attempts.  I have to tell you guys… I kinda surprised myself –these are some of the best dips ever!   Seriously, I had to throw away one of the dips or I would have sat and ate the entire bowl all by myself!!

For the first recipe I wanted to do a bean dip.  We mainly eat black beans here at my house…so naturally that is where I started. Black beans are a great source of fiber and protein and of course they are delicious!  I played around a bit and the final version of my recipe is absolutely fabulous!  Maybe I am a bit biased but this may be the best dip I have ever had!  What is great is that this is a healthier dip.  I chose naturally low fat and low calorie ingredients.  This dip is also fabulous as you just toss everything into the food processor and let it do the work for you!

Creamy Black Bean Dip

1 Can of Black Beans (rinsed & drained)
1 Medium Tomato (rough chop)
1/4 Onion
1/4 Cup Cilantro
2 Ounces Neufchatel Cheese
1 Teaspoon Cumin
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
1 Teaspoon Fresh Lime Juice

Place everything in the food processor and blend until smooth & creamy.  Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with Tostitos Scoops! tortilla chips! Yum!

The entire bowl of dip is approximately 600 calories and 14 grams of fat!  Pair this dip with Frito-Lay’s Tostitos Scoops that delicious and made with just three simple ingredients: corn, healthier oil and salt and you have a party hit!  Tostitos white corn products also offer 8 grams of whole grains per serving. Together this is a great option that is not only healthier but also delicious–your guest will love it!!

The second recipe is a modification of a wrap recipe that my husband always loves to serve at parties.  He jokingly asked why I needed a party dip, when he had his famous Chicken Roll Ups…so I decided to modify his recipe and make it into a dip!  His recipe calls for canned chicken…but since I have never been a fan of chicken that requires a can opener I opted for fresh 🙂 I also decided to lighten up this with Neufchatel cheese rather than sour cream.  Once we started tasting it it reminded us of buffalo wings!  What goes with wings?…ranch and blue cheese of course!  I used fat free ranch and just enough blue cheese to give it a great flavor and texture.

Creamy Chicken Dip
3 Ounces of Chicken Breast Shredded (I just boiled a breast and shredded it)
6 Ounces of  Neufchatel Cheese
2 Tablespoons Fat Free Ranch Dressing
2 Tablespoons Of Hot Sauce (or Buffalo Sauce)  I used Frank’s Red Hot
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Blue Cheese Crumbles

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate until ready to serve.  Serve with Fritos Scoops! corn chips.

My husband decided that this dip was a hit and even admitted that it might just be better than his recipe. Of course I had to take a picture before I let him dig in.  Once he was eating he decided that Fritos Scoops were a better option as he could get a bigger bite!  I think you will be just fine serving this with either Tostitos or Fritos Scoops!

This one is also super simple–once you have your chicken cooked and shredded, you just throw it together.  Again because I chose ingredients low in calories and low in fat, this is a healthier option to serve at your bowl party!  Both of these dips can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until your guests arrive.  So you will not have to spend your time in the kitchen while others are watching the football game!!

You guys probably have many of the ingredients on hand for both of these recipes!  Publix has Lay’s chips and Tostitos on sale this week, so grab a few bags of chips the recipe ingredients and you will be ready to party!
