Doing a tittle each day works for me and keeping organization
Washing the den windows, they get the morning sun and always look dirty really fast.
I make a plan for the week and get my kids involved.

I find it helps me to set a timer. Work one hour, break 15, and so on. It helps me stay accountable and it is amazing how much you get done in just one hour!!
Clean towels, fresh flowers and candles are the finishing touches after vacuuming, vacuuming and re-vacuuming the floors, stairs and furniture due to my two big dogs that seem to own the house.
Sometimes I put an old sock om my hand and dip in soapy water.
I try to do some cleaning every day so my days off of work aren’t filled with cleaning up a messy house.
Getting the kids involved and everyone take a task, agree on a small break time, it seems to go quicker

Coincidence or not….this is exactly what I will be doing this weekend for family coming in this week:)
I will start with the upstairs and clean the ceiling fans & blinds down to the floors and scrub the kids bathroom (not fun). The next day I will tackle the downstairs, cleaning out fridge , mopping, scrubbing, dusting etc. Since guests do not arrive til Tuesday, I will wash the bedding on Monday and prepare their room on Tuesday. I like to start early otherwise the day gets by.
Guess I will fit in food shopping…could certainly use more $ in the budget. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂
Vacuuming and dusting are first on my to-do list when guests are expected. Then I wipe counters down and pick up all the cat toys scattered throughout the house. My kitties tend drag them everywhere!

I concentrate on the areas guests will see and leave things like the master bath and closets for another time.
Try to keep things clean all along, so usually just a pickup of “stuff”!
Do 15 minutes every day, when surprise guest come, grab a laundry basket put clutter in…….lol
Company coming on Sunday, so I started last weekend and did one room at a time. I’ll mop the floor the morning of their arrival.

I’m working on spring cleaning now, outside done, almost got inside done. I run the sweeper, mop, and etc weekly. When company comes I don’t worry about it, ready or not

I go room to room and pick up and clear out any clutter. Move it to other rooms if need be or closets that aren’t being used. That way everything is more tidy. Stock the bathrooms with extra tp and soap and a basket of sample sized toiletries. Then use the household cleaners and dust and vacuum to get everything more clean throughout the house.
Main focus on the area where the guest will be. Begining with their bedroom, the living room and kitchen. Quickly dust rooms (ceiling fans first if you have them) then clean room top to bottom, left to right. Use the spray cleaner on kitchen and bathroom. Vacuum! Ready.
I just make sure to air the room good before the arrival. I clean it good too, but there is nothing like a fresh air
Sweep! Mop!
I follow on Twitter. Thanks!
Vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathrooms including toilets, mirrors and sinks.
Vacuum, dust and clean the guest bathroom.
Dust clean vacuum the bedroom and death room first!!!
Clean bathrooms first; then guest area, dust, sweep, vacuum and mop; the kitchen is last since it seems to take the longest. Fresh bed clothes and bath towels the night before guests arrive. Spray a light mist of air freshener (or very diluted vanilla) the night before.
I always start with the kitchen and bathroom. I like them spotless. If they only need freshening up, I spray some air freshener. If guests are not spending the night, the bedroom doors get closed!!! If you are a DROP IN guest, well then, you get to see how we live when you’re not here. haha!!
I try to keep up with the work so when guests come we don’t have too much to do. Dividing up the cleaning makes for quick work!
I put on music, it makes it all so much more fun!!!!
Liked Mrs Meyer’s clean day Facebook page!
Tackle the clutter and then clean.
I try and start cleaning 3 days before guest arrive. One third of the house per day–dusting, moping, vacuuming, spray cleaning where needed. I pick up after my 2 dogs and 1 cat (their toys and treats); put out an inexpensive flower arrangement.
I make sure the kitchen is clean first. Somehow a clean kitchen motivates me to get the rest of the house clean.

For guests that “pop over”, I clean the 1/2 bath in our entry, declutter our downstairs, dust and vacuum just the downstairs!
For overnight company, I start a few days in advance – clean out fridge, clean up our garage/mudroom, prep food/menus. Day before I’ll dust and mop floors, clean and leave the guest room to the day of! That was it’s all fresh!
I like to dust then vacuum a few days before, then day of company ,clean the bathrooms and shine the kitchen.
i focus on the area that guest will use more… i do a general cleaning after guests are gone….. it make me feel good, i can not touch something after somebody else did it.. I know is weird…

I always clean the bathrooms and wipe down the kitchen. I usually keep my house clean, but there has been a fewtimes that I’ve been grateful to have big closets to chuck things in 🙂
I worry about the areas that people will be in most often….so they get a good once over. Anything that can be hidden away does so next. Then I try to light a nice smelling candle to handle the rest.
I dust, vacuum and mop. I also check and make sure the bathrooms are tidy.

My house is usually clean but if you vacuum people think that you’ve just cleaned. Plus I give the guest bathroom a quick once over.
I could care less about company. What I love is just to have the time to make the place smell
clean for my cats. I strongly miss my baby runt she was crazy about clean blankets and would
jump around in them and wrap herself in them while I cleaned the room. So much happiness
and so much joy in a such a tiny creature, who died too young from toxins in the land
I like Mrs Meyers on Facebook, the lemon smelling products are wonderful
My house definitely has its share of messy days, lol. So when I hear that company is coming I get to work and focus on the bathroom and whatever rooms we’ll be using which is most often the living room and dining room.

Clean big surfaces first, then guest bath, and floors last. Get out a candle or air freshener plug in makes it smell great.
I wipe down all the kitchen surfaces & the table in the breakfast nook. Guests always gather there. I also make sure the bathrooms are clean & fresh smelling.
My guest rooms stay pretty clean so I havr to focus on a good deep scrub in common areas likr kitchen and living room.
Since it seems to be my kitchen where most of my friends like to congregate, I make sure it is clean, floors swept and the front of the cabinets are clean. Also a fresh coffee cake is nice to have set up. We are pretty relaxed here…
quick tips? clean the mirrors and picture glass, plus toss the clutter into a laundry basket and stash where guests won’t see it!

Everything would get a good wipe down. As long as you have notice, I just bought the dish soap and it smells wonderful..
I clean a little each day to stay on top of the dirt!
I vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms and burn candles for a lovely scent and make home warm and inviting.
My husband and I create a list of what needs to be done, then we divide and conquer! If it’s short notice, we tidy the guest bedroom and bath and run a quick clean through the common areas of the house.

I mostly keep my home tidy, so I just spiff up the bathrooms and bake a dessert, which leaves the home smelling wonderful.
My husband, son and I go into total panic mode the day or night before guests arrive! Dust, vacuum (floors and living room furniture), mop, clean bathrooms and I make sure the kitchen sink is spotless and shiny (weird I know). It’s insane and we always say we will be better prepared next time buuuut…
I do wash and change the linens right after guests leave, so I don’t have to do that last minute at next visit. We’ve gotten really good about deep cleaning weekly, so it’s not that big of a chore. The truth is though, with a cat, dog and an 8-year old boy, we could dust and vacuum 2x daily and still need to do it a 3rd time. I’m a huge fan of the Mrs. Meyer’s lemon verbena scent. I especially love that I can hand over the bottle to my son and he can help out with the cleaning without worrying about him handling harsh chemicals.

The wife cleans every day so it’s always ready for guests.
My tip is to wait and clean until right before the guests come. Nothing is worse than cleaning and then the kids messing it back up before the guests come!
If nothing else, vacuum!
My house is pretty clean most of the time (adults only), so a little freshening up if I know guest are coming.
I start deep cleaning about a week before so I only have to do light cleaning right before they get here.

I like to clean a little everyday so that the night before I can just tidy up. Less stress!
When I am having guests I start by decluttering my home. Having a clean living room and kitchen makes your home more inviting and makes me feel better as well. Then I always make sure to thoroughly clean the bathroom and if they are overnight guests I make sure the guest room has clean linens.

I clean every day so that I don’t have a whole lot to do when we have frequent guests. Makes for a less stressful life for me. And, I actually enjoy cleaning.
All I really need to do is final added special touches for guest room and bath.
I don’t leave everything till the last day and always try to keep up with things generally so the place is not too horrific a job to clean. I wish I could be like Vickie and actually enjoy cleaning – I think I did in my younger days, maybe I burned myself out.
I liked Mrs Meyers on Facebook and I really do like their products just wish they cost less so the coupons are most welcome
Throw all my crap in my bedroom and shut the door. Wipe the counters and light a candle. LOL, I have really done this sometimes. Really, when I clean, I spray my bathtub first. While it’s doing its thing, I dust and vacuum the living room. Then I sweep and mop the kitchen. Then I go back and clean the tub and toilet and mop the bathroom. Please note I live in a very small 2 bedroom house. Smaller than most 2 bedroom apartments.
I normally keep things fairly straight, but when company is coming, I run over all surfaces with the appropriate cleaners to make the house smell fresh. A good smelling scent , like the Lemon verbena, in the Mrs. Meyers products is a great fresh scent for guests to walk in and smell!
I use carpet freshner when I vacuum, wax the furniture with an orange or lemon scented wax, use a scented multi-surface product for the mirrors, countertops, and glass. By using the three together my place smells great!
Put everything in laundry baskets and put in garage. Then wipe everything down.
I tend to move things out of the main areas and give everything a good wipe down.

I put everything away and just make sure the place smells good.
The only thing that works for me is to start EARLY!!!! REALLY EARLY! I start doing a small thing here and there long before it’s time for company. That way by that day, there isn’t much left to do! It’s tough to get the family on board too… but it helps.

When I have guests, I do a good once over of all the spaces my guests will be in-especially the bedroom and bathroom. I make sure the toiletries and linens are fully stocked and I sweep/vacuum.
I like the Facebook page.
Definitely dust. That is the chore I hate the most. I had rather scrub 10 toilets than to dust. I generally keep things clean so I do a quick dust of all the furniture in shared spaces and scrub my counter tops and make sure I have fresh warmers.

I start to clean a little bit everyday. So I’m just touch up the day before they arrive. And I don’t have to stress.
I run like a mad woman through the house cleaning until I’m exhausted. The funny part is I typically do house cleaning on thursday nights to keep things clean so there’s typically not that much that needs to be done when we have guests. I just like to make sure things are perfect if we’re having guests.
Do a little bit each day then at the last day run around like mad until its all finished!
I try to make it a family help/fun time (so I don’t get TOO focused on the deep cleaning). My 6 year old tornado dusts up a storm and my 8 year old mini-me vacuums and straightens, while I wipe-down counters and sinks in kitchen and bath. I love my Zach Pack helpers!
I clean /straighten on a daily basis. The night before guests arrive, I polish all my stainless steel, vacuum and dust. I put out fresh soap and towels in the bathrooms. In the morning, I sweep up dog hair. My dog sheds like crazy 🙂
Once I clean the bathrooms I like to put a small basket by the sink with travel size items in cases they forgot anything – soaps, shampoo, aspirin, make-up remover towlettes, etc. Great way to use these up. And a small water pitcher with glasses bedside makes a nice touch – or bottle water –
I hate dusting so don’t do it very often. When we have company coming I wrangle all 3 boys to help and we dust the whole house.

When my female relative visited, I surprised her with Mrs. Meyers SUNFLOWER hand soap. She’s crazy about SUNFLOWERS so she was amazed I remembered. I’ll have to try that one next !
My tip is to get every family member involved. Give each a job and you will get it knocked out quickly !

Clean the bathroom thoroughly and tidy up the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Make sure that it smells good with some air freshner plug ins, but most of all enjoy the company.
