Ok…so I shared a recipe for a Traditional Green Bean Casserole as well as a Homemade Green Bean Casserole (From Scratch) and today I am sharing one more green bean casserole option!
This third recipe is a definitely not a traditional holiday side…but maybe it should be! How about serving up a Green Bean Tater Tot Casserole as a change of pace this holiday?! It’s easy to make and very kid friendly. My boys turn their nose up at my other green bean casseroles…but this one is definitely more their speed!
Honestly, I can’t blame them…it’s really quite tasty.
Like the others, you need a couple of cans of Green Giant Green Beans. But, with this one you add in sautéed mushrooms, cheddar cheese and bacon to the casserole and then add a layer of tater tots. Everything bakes up all creamy and delicious and the crunch of the tots make for the perfect bite.

- 1 teaspoon butter
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 (14 1/2-ounce) cans Green Giant® Cut Green Beans, drained
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
- 32 oz bag tater tots
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet and cook the onion and mushrooms for 5 – 7 minutes, until the mushrooms are soften and lightly browned.
- Combine soup and milk in 13×9-inch baking dish. Stir in beans, mushrooms/onion mixture, cheese, bacon and black pepper.
- Top with a layer of tater tots, covering the green bean mixture.
- Bake 45 – 50 minutes or until the tots are crispy and golden.
